And now, some info about fused glass, gemstones and precious metal clay...
These hand made, one of a kind pieces of jewelry and gift items are made using a variety of fusible glass products. Dichroic glass has a metallic look surface, comes in a vivid range of colors and textures and is used in almost all of my pieces. After careful cutting, layering and placement, the glass goes into a kiln and fires once or several times depending on what the desired outcome is. For the initial firing when the temperature reaches around 1435 degrees the heat gets turned off and the annealing or cooling process begins and the result is nothing short of magical. If an item is getting slumped and taking on another shape other than a flat piece of glass, it gets put into a mold and fired again until the desired shape is achieved.
Gemstones are extremely unique and each one tells a different story. They are beautiful to look at, have healing properties and come from all corners of the world. I use polished gemstones in my work and am constantly amazed at the way I feel when I look at them, touch them and marvel at how exquisite they are! Descriptions of the gemstones and their healing properties are included with each gemstone piece you purchase.
Precious metal clay is a workable clay that's made with jeweler's grade silver binders. The design options are endless but since it is clay based it does dry very quickly so I try to move quickly when working with it. Once a piece is torch or kiln fired the clay burns off and what you are left with your jeweler's grade silver piece. The silver content in PMC is .999 and sterling is .925.
I hope you enjoy my creations as much as I enjoy making them!
